FAFO 1300: FABRIC MANIPULATION

Prepare to be enchanted by the artistry of textile manipulation as we journey through a series of captivating workshops dedicated to the world of fabric embellishment and decoration. Join us for an immersive exploration of Elegant Smocking Techniques, Creative Slashing Techniques, and Vibrant Batik Techniques—a trio of workshops that promise to inspire and delight textile enthusiasts of all levels.

***Elegant Smocking Techniques 1300A:

Learn the art of smocking, a beautiful and traditional fabric manipulation technique used to create decorative patterns and textures. This workshop will cover basic smocking.

Cost: $45.00

***Creative Slashing Techniques 1300B:

Explore the dynamic world of fabric slashing, where layered fabrics are cut and manipulated to reveal hidden colors and textures. Bring your machine, scissors, scraps, snacks and other items you’d like to incorporate and leg’s have some fun! This is a fun free-flowing project. You may bring your own sewing machine.

Cost: Free, but you must register to attend.

***Vibrant Batik Techniques 1300C:

Dive into the colorful world of batik, a resist dyeing technique that creates stunning patterns on fabric. Participants will learn about the tools and materials needed for this unique paste-based batiking process used to create intricate designs on fabric.

This is a 2-Day Workshop in which participants will collaborate on a project for Fiber Arts Omaha and work on an individual batik project to take home.

Day One:  

Participants will paste and design an individual fabric piece.

Next, as a collaborative project (which is the property of Fiber Arts Omaha) participants together, will apply paint to a dried larger pre-pasted and designed piece that’s dried.

Day Two:

1) Participants paint their individual project, which they’ll take home.

2) Remove the dried paste from the collaborative for the reveal.

Cost: $55.00

What to bring: Paint brushes/sponge brushes, primary acrylic paints.
