New Workshops Coming Shortly!

These classes go beyond indigo vat dyeing; introducing indigo dyeing as an art as it relates to Japan and indigo.

THE CHEMISTRY OF THE MAKING:  THE INDIGO VAT

Learn how to make different types of indigo dye vats.

INDIGO & KATAZOME

During this hands-on workshop, participants learn the art of katazome, a form of dyeing using rice paste, stencils and indigo.

INDIGO & SUMI

Come learn how to dye naturally using nature’s natural blue!  You’ll learn Shibori, make ink and indulge in sumi drawing. 

INDIGO & SUMINAGASHI

You’ll learn honeycombing and ring dyeing before rolling up your sleeves to engage in Suminagashi, paper marbling.  

INDIGO & FUROSHIKI

You’ll create a kaleidoscopic art piece on fabric, as your learn to incorporate binding, knotting, twisting and pleating in cotton fabric to achieve three-dimensional effects of color using indigo.  While your creative creations are in the vat, you’ll learn how to make Japanese furoshiki and later transform one of your dyed pieces into something beautiful.
