Natural fiber: The lotus flower

I’m happy when culture, art and Mother Nature meet so seamlessly. Or are they just naturally intertwined and we separate them out?

No worries, in the end—this is a beautiful, natural way of acquiring fiber from the lotus plant.

Below are some photos of my husband gathering lotus flowers for me in a lake here in Omaha. They’re so pretty—they’re only downfall is that they lost last very long out of the water, but the upside to that is that make beautiful dry flower arrangements.
